jelly babies
Here's a quick one, not too late for Lillian's enjoyment I hope.
After seeing my jelly friends again, I was reminded of jelly babies. I know of them only because the Beatles mention them in one of their Christmas messages to the fans. Because they had requested for fans to stop sending them, I assumed that they were a real confection. After today, I no longer need to assume. Jelly babies seem to be the British version of gummy bears. They were developed to celebrate the end of the first world war.
Even better than finding the jelly babies themselves was the discovery of the endless wonder that is wikipedia. In the U.K., a popular classroom demonstration is the screaming jelly babies. If you scroll down far enough, you can witness this experiment through windows media player. Ooo! This is almost better than microwaved peeps.
A quick news summary to be expanded upon tomorrow: I am in Walla Walla. I found a used car. My parents are still here. Prawin arrived today. Prawin reads my journal. Kenneth got a job at Universal. A restaurant blog is on its way.
