Doesn't have a point of view

radio
I just received that exciting news that the KWCW website it now fully updated. You can now see who is in the station, what show is on, and what song is being played.

In other news, by some odd luck I am now going with DJ Alex and David Mummy to see Paul McCartney in concert next November. Alex e-mailed us the day before the tickets went on sale and we agreed to make the trip to Portland next fall. Apparently, the tickets sold out within 5 hours of the box office opening. I have a long time to build up my excitement with this and to become more familiar with Paul's more recent work.

I had too much fun and too little sleep this weekend. Dragfest was amazing. I have never seen that concentration of Whitman kids dancing at once. Normally when cool bands come, it is just me and Eric and Elizabeth dancing (almost!). This is proof that their wish to have more energetic and dancible musicians come to campus would be well received. Elizabeth's sailor outfit was very impressive, especially considering that she sewed it herself. Eric looked, as Elizabeth pointed out, like a secretary, or a housewife from a previous era. Unfortunately, we only have 1 photo of us together and it came out dark. Maybe I will post it later.

Elizabeth and I tried to go see the shape of things, a student produced play, but it was full when we arrived. Prior to that was the Imagine celebration. It was interupted by a sudden thunderstorm and we all quickly moved inside. The performance were great and energetic regardless of the weather. We made Vietnamese jello for the VCC booth, and I will be slowly gaining weight this week from the many leftovers.

After how many years of wishing to watch it, I finally saw Dancer in the Dark. After seeing it, I guess I couldn't have made a good case for watching it at Sharon's house at those times when everyone agreed on a light, fun movie. I don't know how to properly critique a film of such serious subject matter. I did enjoy it though, especially how the musical scenes were so carefully created to make the character's life seem happier for her but not necessarily for the audience.

More good news to end my day: I fixed my bike with my own two hands and no one else's. Yea for me and for having my bike back in my life after such a long absence.

5 minute post
I have to go to class soon. Eep. Today I received my dragfest costume in the mail, complete with a hat, belt, and sock. All I need now is some decent shoes. After I tried it all on, I am also a little worried that I look more like one of those boa-wearing freshmen at casino night than my usual self, especially because I want to wear my hair in pigtails. Oh well. It will just have to do. Maybe I will paint on some facial hair.

Ok, I guess I only have time for the superficial portion of my life. I might post more tonight about why I am again more distracted from school work than I should be.

recycling
The recycling is banned from the house. I must carry it to the Outhouse. Sometimes trying not to be frustrated with my housemates can be very frustrating.

This was our old favorite. I just realized that I never put it up. As you can tell, Eric came over tonight to transfer his photos. We (Chau, Eric, and I) also went to see the William O. Douglas speaker, the executive director of Amnesty International. I was impressed by how well written and delivered his speech. Everyone was looking a little bored, possibly because, although it was dynamic, his speech did not offer many facts which were new to the audience. Well, this concludes my photo thread and homework intermission.  Posted by Hello

concentration
For good reason, I have had difficulty focusing lately.

Today marks the start of my mix CD club. I can't wait to start creating mix CDs again. I already have a the beginnings of a sleepy mix part II, dance mix, and my overly ambitious delusions of a child trapped in suburbia mix. Also, I decided last night that a tea mix might work well. Let me know if you know of any songs about drinking tea. So far I have weezer, the decemberists, ted leo, ryan adams, the shins, kelis, and the beatles.

The biggest news for the last week at Whitman was that we were added to facebook. From what I've heard over half the campus has signed up for an account in less than a week's time. I'm not sure if that is a fact that I am especially proud of. I am excited that I have collected all but one of the 8 jellies and found Jason P.

I spilled miso soup all over my chair, losing my homemade organic tofu. Now what do I do to clean it up? I am beginning to feel like a slob when all of my clothes have stains and spots. We really need to fix this washer problem.

Look for photos soon maybe from casino night if I succeed in bugging Eric about them later tonight. Casino night was like a mix of cheap high school dance decorations + college kids + gambling + the formality of prom. Some of the highlights included semi-succeeding in swing dancing with Eric and watching Andy roll up his sleeves 80's style.

I stopped by Earthlight books today. Oh, how I love book stores, especially the ones that do things right. It's one of those places where you can tell that the owner knows where each book is in the store and that he loves each of them as much as his potential customers soon will. All music and book stores should be this way.
