justifying my disappointment Posted by Hello

shoooooooooes
boo hoo hoo.

so much has happened to me over the last week, as expected. i have felt exceedingly guilty for not sharing it with you, the internet viewers. i feel even more guilty about what has forced me to post. i have been planning and searching for the perfect pair of converse. i had found them, on sale none the less. i went right now to order them and saw, none in my size. boo hoo hoo.

no shoes for the shoe girl.

my new food blog is up and running. sharon, hit the publish button! kenneth, help me contact you! Here's the address for all that are interested. Http://sgcuizine.blogspot.com. I will try my best to figure out how to archive by food type.

So, to summarize my week: I met some new people. I didn't like it. Do you get to a point where new people and new friends are basically unnecessary? I am very content as it is and I know I won't see these people after 7 weeks of time.
The girl who I've been through urine samples, being locked in a metal box, and false air monitor alarms with scared me at first. She touched my shoulders on the first day, but now I am happy to have befriended her.
Driving the stick shift is getting better. It seriously is more nerve racking than going to work in a building with yellow and magenta radiation warning signs.
The other girl I work with says yee-haw on a daily basis. This also causes me much concern.
My life is a series of daily adventures with my little car and me and sometimes Barbara (my co-intern).
My car's tape player is now working. I basically have my two taped episodes of Breakfast with the Beatles memorized (one Deirdre tribute, one George birthday). Speaking of the Beatles, listening to Alex and David really makes my week. Maybe it's just the power of radio shows to make me happy. I briefly hung out with them this weekend and scoped out a location for a special live broadcast/beatles brunch. Unfortunately, downtown Walla Walla isn't too happenin' on a Sunday morning.
Speaking of radio shows, listen to dj dumpling and lillian on www.uclaradio.com, wednesday from 4-6, for quality banter and most likely decent music. You never can tell with that Xi and his inferior taste in pop music.
Oh, and to complete my summary, my happy cheery red bike has a very unhappy flat tire. I tried to ride it to the garden after their show and it made a sad sound. Boo hoo hoo.

home turnip
Ha, Eric called me a home turnip. For some reason I have had to tell everyone about this.

Tomorrow is the big day for the original trio of Karina, Sharon, and Lyndsay. Karina is off to Italy, Sharon is off to home, and I am off to my first day on the job. Wish us all luck. :)

I made it to Richland and am all settled in to my new home. Driving here in my little car with the wind in my hair, I felt like a college girl. I guess that's what I am.

For the last year or more, I have been generally happy. For this, I am lucky. Despite some conflicts, I conclude my day feeling very loved again. I try my best not to anticipate for this to end.

sweet don henley dreams
I feel so sleepy. My restaurant blog will have to wait.

The new laptop, ollalieberry, is vibrating with the sounds of the dirty projectors. I was blown away tonight by how much more lovely "I will truck" could be live. They did a good job of using the venue's space effectively and of interacting with the audience. I also very much enjoyed Nat Baldwin who played an intimate acoustic set on his cello. Eric, you should have been there. Not everyone was there that I had expected, like Audrey, but I did talk to Oliver. Kevin stood in front of everyone and instructed us to hug Travis because he is the general manager of Kdub, who sponsored the event. He said that 30 people hugging Travis at once might be awkard, but to do it anyway. Ha.

On another note, riding my bike on a summer night is a wonderful feeling. I could never do such a thing at home.

jelly babies
Here's a quick one, not too late for Lillian's enjoyment I hope.
After seeing my jelly friends again, I was reminded of jelly babies. I know of them only because the Beatles mention them in one of their Christmas messages to the fans. Because they had requested for fans to stop sending them, I assumed that they were a real confection. After today, I no longer need to assume. Jelly babies seem to be the British version of gummy bears. They were developed to celebrate the end of the first world war.
Even better than finding the jelly babies themselves was the discovery of the endless wonder that is wikipedia. In the U.K., a popular classroom demonstration is the screaming jelly babies. If you scroll down far enough, you can witness this experiment through windows media player. Ooo! This is almost better than microwaved peeps.

A quick news summary to be expanded upon tomorrow: I am in Walla Walla. I found a used car. My parents are still here. Prawin arrived today. Prawin reads my journal. Kenneth got a job at Universal. A restaurant blog is on its way.

3 days, 2 best friend birthdays
3 minutes into Sharon's birthday.
24 hours and 3 minutes past Karina's.
Happy Happy!

If I don't type quickly, my parents will come after me. We will be leaving tomorrow morning and heading north first to Oregon, then to Walla Walla. That's the reason for my soon to be blogger break. When I return, I am considering the creation of a restaurant blog about restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley and general Los Angeles area. Maybe I will turn them into conversations with Kenneth, as he suggested sort of.

Today I talked to Eric. He said that at Bucknell, students are able to keep their school e-mail address indefinately for forwarding to another address. This genius idea takes up little memory space and should be implemented into the Whitman system. He told me to remind him to suggest this plan to the school, so maybe this will help me remember.

Two of my friends are in a time zone 3 hours later than my own. This makes communication even more confusing.

Yesterday, I listened to DJ Alex and David Mummy's classic rock show on KWCW. They were very funny, especially the part when they spoke with British accents. I was relieved when they played their Rolling Stones set because I had wanted to request a Stones song, but felt like that would go against by Beatles loyalties. Their show, lolliberry pie, and talking to Karina made my night a very happy one.
They are also continuing with Breakfast with the Beatles, same time, same day. Don't be misled by Alex's new DJ name.

I managed to make it to Little Ethiopia, Thai Town, and Chinatown all in one day. Wooo for the diversity of L.A. Alas, my search for chirping crickets failed as well as Eric's search for breakfast claws.

Okay, it's getting late. I wish a warm goodbye to Alhambra, SG, and Rosemead. Walla Walla here I come again.

i don't think you can handle it
Today was a great day, mostly due to Johnny.
He took me to Irvine to watch Michael in a play. There, I got to also see two of my precious jellies, Michelle and Ryan. Because of them I was able to come home deliver jellie greetings to my mom and dad.
Michael did a wonderful job and it was nice seeing him again too.

Johnny really reminded me of all the high school people I have lost touch with. Someone needs to force me to call Hung.

when I think of dreams, I think of tv on the radio
So, I promised a dream post today. I feel like Eric posting about my dreams, but I rarely dream during the school year because I rarely get more than 7 hours of sleep.

My first dream involved me running frantically around looking for my friends. I remember thinking that Scott Silver had said something to me about meeting him in the library, so I ran through what looked like the Alhambra Public Library to find him. The library was filled with school kids, like a museum on a field trip weekday, and I didn't see anyone that I recognized. Then, I came to a roller skating rink which I had skated in earlier in my dream with friends (a la ice skating). It was all in one big room which had a glass/plastic divider on one side and the whole think sloped somehow so that I had to look down in order to see anything. There I found Elizabeth skating with Dan and I was jealous and mad that no one had told me where they were going. I think the dream later involved my friends being trapped in a blue shed-like building but I'm not sure.

My other dream took place in a weird and desolate town. I remember being in a waiting room that was all white and had a podium in the corner. It reminded me of what a funeral parlor might be like with people dressed all in black and fake green ivy on the white walls. I think I had to sign in a book to leave the room and take the tour of the attraction, a field of dead grass filled with all sorts of statues. The statues has supposedly been collected by two boys in the town. Then I felt like I was in a car going quickly through the statue garden and I realized that Eric was driving the car. I was sitting next to him and somehow Lillian was sitting on my right wearing light pink converse high tops. We were suddenly no longer in the car and were standing between weird maze-like boxy buildings. It hit me that I hadn't seen Eric in a long time and he hugged me. Lillian proceeded to stare at me awkwardly and I said, oh I think this is freaking Lillian out. I think Eric hugged me again and then I kind of backed away in order to somehow remedy the increasing awkardness.

That is it.

Lillian found my bonus track. Whoo! Make your booty go hip hip.
Sadly, I doubt I can visit her show because our car in still not fixed. Tomorrow morning brings with it an eye doctor trip, again in the '57 cameo.
